We were finally able to get down for scallops after trying for the last three years. Each time we had a wknd we could go the weather always turned bad. We were able to get a limit in the boat each day in about 2 hours. Had to make the long run toward Keaton to get them, but they were there. Not too much to report on the fishing front. We really only fished about 2 hours each day except for Tuesday when we hit it pretty hard til around 1:30 before having to head home. We were able to find a few reds each day and some trout. They were just not very agressive (typical late summer bite) and we lost 6 nice keepers at the boat on Tuesday that would have made the other 3 trout look a lot better. The fish just wouldn't eat the baits good. Caught all the trout in 6-7 feet on any type of clearwater plastics (rootbeer, chicken bone, electric chicken, etc.)
But, it was a super nice weekend spent with good friends from home and good friends down on the econ. Got a few good eats as well.
we had to run about 10-15 miles east of rock island. i think they are pretty much everywhere however from spring warrior to steinehatchee. we just kept going back to the same place because we were finding so many.
