Took our time coming down this morning. Stopped at Jerry's for ice and a biscuit. I needed to renew my license but their machine wasn't working so went on to Shell Island and got it renewed..glad I did as we did get checked coming in.
Bout 8:30 made it to the rock garden and started throwing topwaters. Figured we'd wait till the tide turned and go up a creek and try to catch some reds. As it turned out we ran in with trolling motor and was able to get into a creek I'd never fished before.
Once we got up the creek found plenty of water to manuver in and started throwing spoons. After the tide turned started picking up one here and there. Biggest 30" and smallest about 12". fish never did really turn on good but it was fairly steady. Best part was marking another track to get into a creek on shallow water. Left about 5 and was loaded by 6. Caught one 15" trout and several short ones. First time in awhile we haven't caught a couple of real nice trout on a rising tide in a creek. Also plenty of ladyfish in the creeks..
All in all a good day. Just hope I didn't get in one of Jumptrout's holes !
