NFGFC August Tournament Results

Post by caseycook »

We had a great turnout for our August tournament - 25 boats braved the heat and showed up ready to fish. There were still several nice stringers weighed by NFGFC members and some great stories told at the weigh-in.

1st Place was won for the second month in a row by the team of Ashley "Warrior" Mock, Junior Dice, and Matt Howell. This talented trio weighed in 5 trout at 11.55 lbs and won $265 for their efforts. Congrats guys!

2nd place was awarded to the team of Casey Cook and Pat Irwin. Their five fish weighed in at 11.35 lbs and won them $160.

3rd place was won by the team of Chuck Collins, Jeff Trent and Austin Trent. The Bass Boys weighed in five trout tipping the scales to 10.25 lbs which won them $105.

Rick Johnson caught a nice 3.83 lb trout that won him big trout honors for the tournament. Big trout paid out a cool $220. Congrats to Eerman on a great August trout.

The Custom Detailing 2nd place big trout went to Tommy Thompson. Tommy's 3.71 lb trout won him $25 courtesy of Tom Wheeler and Custom Detailing.

The big redfish was caught by Pat Irwin. Scratch N Sniff’s red was a shade under 26”, but weighed a whopping 6.75 lbs. Congrats to Team Blind Hog for taking home $330 for winning the big redfish pot.

The Kevin's big flounder pot was won by Brad Castleberry and Rick Bushatz who caught a .79 lb flounder which won them a $50 Kevin's gift certificate. This is the third or fourth time this year that Team Castleberry / Bushatz has won the flounder prize. Congrats guys!

The Badcock and More Mystery rolled as no tournament angler weighed in a legal black drum. The pot will be worth $400 next month as the targeted species will be SAILCAT.

It was a great tournament - the largest turnout for an August tournament in club history - and I hope to see y'all at our next tournament on September 12th at The Moorings in Carrabelle, Florida. Registration will be from 5:55 a.m. – 6:25 a.m. Boats can leave the dock at safe light - 6:45 a.m. I hope to see all of you there.

Congratulations to the winners. Some really good limits were weighed in. And way to go there Rick on the big trout.

My partner (new member Mike Yelvington) and I started out with what looked like it might be a good day. Went west and had 3 nice fish (total 5.46 pounds) before 9:30. Then the lighting started getting pretty close and we picked up and ran East to get away from it. Problem was that we left a spot with fish and never found another one. Worked hard to try and finish out a 5 fish limit but only wore ourselves out catching 14 1/2 in shorts! Water temp's went from 84.5 to 87 during the day and lots of grass brought to the boat. I appreciate my partner "hang'n" in there with me. Everyone who participated in the tournament deserves an "ata boy" for fish'n hard and stick'n with it

Thanks for the props guys. Wish I could have had a little of something to kick with that kicker. The other 4 fish looked like Manute Bol's middle finger
