Choctaw/West Bay
Spent all last week with the family and some friends between P.C. Beach and Destin. Only got to fish 3 times, but that beat the hell out of working. Went to Choctawhatchee Bay Tuesday morning for the first time in several years. Tried the trout fishing but all we caught was catfish. I have never seen so many catfish. Even caught 1 on a top-water plug. Also managed a few lady fish. Had a good time and decided we'd go back about 2 hrs. before dark and give it one more try. In 2 hrs. that evening, we caught over 30 trout, 8 cats, 4 lady's and 1 nice spanish. Didn't seem to matter what we threw at em. Did not have a single keeper trout. All were between 12 and 14.99999 inches. Thusday morning I went to West Bay to try the reds. Nothing doing untill about mid morning when they finally turned on. Caught 5 reds between 18 and 22 inches, and 3 trout 14 to 18 inches. Caught them between 9:30 and 11:00 central time. Had a lot of fun, hope to get back on the water soon.
