Ok here goes, Me and Trouttrent got to Econfina at 6 a.m. was the second boat in the water behind Seaspot, finally after we could see to navigate down the river off we go. We set up on a good looking shoreline that was overrun with bait  . Right off the bat we started catching reds one after the other, after 10 or so and one decent 25.5 incher we focused on trying to catch trout not long after Jeff boats a nice 19 incher followed by a 18 incher. After that things kinda go dead for a while. We notice JT and Butch bout a mile from us staying around the same spot pulling back up and drifting the same area over and over so we are thinking are they really catching or is this the only spot that JT has around Econfina, Come to find out it must of been the only spot he had cause we all seen what he had at the weigh in  . So after a long dry spell we moved ou to 6-8 foot of water and all we could catch was Rockers and assorted trash but I was able to complete a Panhandle Grand Slam by catching a Cobia   . Well after the tide started to turn back in to shore we head Thats when I picked up ol reliable and right off the bat picked up a 20.75 inch trout  and then 3 cast later a 19.75 incher. We drifted for a while with no luck and then Jeff said maybe we should pull back up and drift that area again (now this area was nowhere near JTs spots as we have been fishing this area for years) and it paid off Jeff hooks another 18 incher so now we're thinking we really don't have a bad weight for this time of year. So we headed back to Enky trying to outrun this extremely dark cloud and barely got on the trailer and in the truck before the bottom fell out. As it turned out we had just enough to finish 3rd, Thanks to everyone that competed there was more boats than I thought there would be for this time of year. Also thanks to Casey and Pat for running a great event.

Here's our report, JT: We made a long run to new water to start the morning. Our first cast was at 7:35 a.m. We had our limit at 8:00 a.m. with two over 20" to 23". Pat caught a big redfish at about 8:15 a.m. on the super-secret topwater plug. We ran to spot #2 at 10:30 and proceeded to catch 8 more trout over 20", but none that would upgrade us. We caught a few 18"s and 19"s at spot #2. Spot #3 produced nothing for us. We fished until 1:40 p.m. and took it in to the ramp. Had a great day with my partner - he did an awesome job netting. ;-)
