Fishing the other side of the pond - Texas coast

Post by Breambuster »

I spent a little more than a week in traveling through south Texas checking out the cotton crop (hence my absence in the forum lately). Anyway, the cotton crop looks as good as it could get with only 4'' of rain in the whole growing season.

The tour ended in South Padre Island and we took the opportunity to jump on a partyboat there. The snapper fishery there is the same as here, they are everywhere. Although the minimum size is 16'', the captain told us we should not keep anything less than 20'' and he was right. Our group of 18 people limited out in 2 and a half hour. Most of the people in our group have never fish before, so it was fun watching them catching their first fish. I had a great time flatlining with nothing but a bare hook and a piece of boston mackeral and catching 4-5lb mango way up in the water column.

Nice catch. Surprised you didn't choose to find the 10 pound trout around there.
WHOSE FISH IS IT?
