St Marks Mon 8/24

Post by sundown »

Headed out about 4 this morning with high expectations..Gonna hit favorite creek on both sides of the low tide and slay the reds..Got my new power pole so gonna be able to fish it like you spose to..not to be......
Got to Shell Is and was getting ready to launch when I turned my main disconnect on and the hydralic pump for the power pole came on..Couldnt get it to turn off or operate the power pole with remote or console switch...
What you do ? nobody at shell is knew anything bout working on a pp so I called my office and got em to google power pole and get me a phone number..naturally had left instructions at home.
Right at 8 phoned PP and got recording..their hours are 8:30 till whenever...Waited and called back at 8:30 got same recording..finally about nine got hold of a technician that ran me through some basic diagnostics and decided the reversing relay was stuck...getting replacement out today supposedly..first time they ever had any trouble with this relay..made in China.
We headed out and got to creek mouth at nearly 10. made it over sand bar wirth push pole and trolling motor barely..had some room to navigate but water was falling out so fast that we decided to anchor on a deep hole and wait till tide turned.
Broke out sardines, beans and kool aid and had a nice lunch..
Tide finally turned enough we could move around some about 1:30 and we started up creek..about 3/4 mile into creek Jay was throwing a mirrolure around some rock grass when he got a hard strike....bore down like a big red but didnt take off running like a a red..couple minutes later pulls a 19" gag to the top..nearly a mile from the edge of the flats..We kept going as far as we could and wound up with five reds to 26". I caught one of em, he caught the rest..I was using the new Capt Mikes gold spoon, he was using an old Capt Mike spoon.figure...
Caught a couple trout and a big spanish way up the creek....bunch of lady fish and couple sand trout..
All in all pretty good day..didn't tear nothing up that wasn't already tore up and caught some fish...Gonna be ready for em next time..
