Confused trout

Post by reelcatch »

I went out fishing Saturday about noon from the Aucilla River. After fishing several creek mouths and shoreline all I had to show for the effort was a trout and a fairly nice flounder. I decided to go out to deeper water and try to salvage the day. Of coarse my co-pilot had to ask "how do you know where to go if there is no one out here"? As we all know that would be Mrs Reelcatch. Now the pressure was really on to find fish. I spotted a crab trap about five miles out. I stopped just to check out the spot. Well a couple of hours later we had caught 7 very nice trout and two sharks about three feet long. Those by the way on light tackle are a blast. All in all we caught a lot of fish there and had to throw most of them but a good day fishing.

Now by the way the co-pilot is not asking many questions, especially since she caught the three biggest fish we had.

There was a guy in front of us at the boat ramp (Shell Island Fish Camp), whom after spending 10 minutes getting his boat on the trailor, said he was catching them in 20' of water. And that with all the rain, they're way out there trying to stay in saltier water. *shrug*
