75 hp Merc. question

Post by DixieReb »

Yesterday I was flushing my 75 hp Merc. with a hose adapter(like I have many times). I noticed the upper unit felt warm while running, not hot just warm. The peer was working just fine, and I didn't get an alarm. My question is, is that normal for an engine that size when being flushed on a hose? The reason I'm asking is that I flushed my 40 hp Johnson also and it didn't get warm at all. I've never had a problem with the Merc, just wanted some opinions. Thanks.

The Merc may be designed to run warmer, the thermostat determines the running temp. I wouldn't let it worry me none, so long as things are working properly :-D

PROBABLY DOESN'T MEAN A THING. ALL 5 OF MY EVINRUDES RUN COOL EITHER ON THE RABBIT EARS OR IN THE GULF, NEVER HAVE HAD A HEAT PROBLEM WITH OMC PRODUCTS, OR FOR THAT MATTER, HAVENT HAD ANY PROBLEM ON ANY OF MY ENGINES. THE OLDEST IS 52 YEARS OLD AND STILL GOING STRONG.
