Hooks, split rings
I am replacing the trebles on mostly all my plugs. Does anyone have any suggestions on what kind of hooks and split rings to buy? I am using them on Super Spooks and Bite-a-Bait Fighter plugs. I'm looking for sizes on the hooks (I think #4 for the plugs and #2 for the Spooks) and the rings (here I have no idea). Any info would be appreciated.

Re: Hooks, split rings
You'll have better luck changing the middle hook on the Spook to 1 size smaller than what is on there already. That'll keep the hooks from catching on one another.
I generally change the middle to a 4.

I use Owner St-41's and won't buy anything else...they are sharper than all of the others I've tried. I prefer #4's on all my topwaters (including Super Spooks), but know of some people that use #2's. I've found that I stick more fish with the #4's and catch less floating grass, but that could just be a confidence thing. Usually only replace them if I have a tournament the next day...they stay sharp for a good while.
I don't replace the split rings on the Super Spooks, but make a point of doing it on the Bite-A-Baits.
