I'da picked it up, too.

Post by Charles »

Lay my pushpole on the trailer while loading up at Live Oak Island Wednesday evening, then drove off without tying it down. :bang_1 Yeah, I'm a DA. I think it bounced off when I crossed the bridge at the island. Canvassed the whole island yesterday afternoon asking everybody I could find, but no one saw it.

So somewhere between Live Oak Island and Wakulla Gardens early Wednesday evening somebody picked up a white, 12', aluminum pushpole that was wandering around lost. Something like that, I'da picked it up too. I'm hoping somebody at the island or a fellow forum member found it.

Also I hear there is a fella right here in Wakulla Gardens that makes pushpoles. How do I get in touch with him in case my old one doesn't find it's way home?

Yeah, that was the one Chuck won in the raffle and I bought it off him. It was shorter than what he wanted for his boat. I thought it was going to be 2' longer than what I wanted for the canoe, but it turned out I liked it better than what I thought I wanted. I don't remember ever taking the canoe and not using that pole since I got it.

<sniff> I was my material link to this years social. :smt010

Okay, it's not that dramatic, but I'm still POed at myself for losing it like that. :smt011

The metal shop that makes the push poles is next to the Dollar store near the intersection of US 98 and Woodville Highway.

Greg Williams is owner of Skinny Water Products and makes all the poles. His company also co-sponsors NFGFC. Stop in and talk to him, he will custom make you a pole of any length.
As TallyFish said. Next door to $store.

Thanks guys, I'll stop by there if mine doesn't turn up. But then, I guess that pushpole isn't really "mine" anymore. :-?

Yesterday a fella' was telling me about a guy in Wakulla Gardens who makes aluminum pushpoles, but he also makes them out of wood. I'd be interested in taking a look at wood poles, although I would think aluminum would be more durable. Maybe it's the same guy and he has a shop by the Dollar Store? Anyway, I will be looking around if my old one doesn't turn up.

Just for you.

He started out with the wooden poles and progresed to the more durable aluminum poles. He will do a wooden pole for you if that is what you want.

Found it. Thanks, but you guys can stop looking. It was laying on the side of the highway waiting for me to come back, a couple miles from where I thought I might have lost it. :D

Thank you for the very generous offer, Bocephus.

I was thinking somebody picked it up, then put it back after realizing, "Oh, this must belong to that stra-a-ange guy." :-D
