Saturday, not knowing Atticus had graciously invited me to go fishing with him I made a solo mission. Headed south from my house 'til I hit water. The bite was suprisingly hot in light of the significant fresh water influx late last week. While the river mouth looked like coffee, a couple miles in either direction looked more like tea. It was also suprising that the fish were still shallow and hadn't gone deeper in search of salt. I pulled a 24" red and probably a dozen trout to 22" out of the first stop using a spook (actually 2 spooks, the hooks on one got destroyed when the red got me tied up in some rock grass). The area had random rocks mixed with patchy bottom and was under about 2 feet of water. I kept the red and three trout (all about 18") as my addition to a gator fry Katie and I were scheduled to attend later that day. By the time I left that spot for a second spot the tide had come in and I was able to head in my favorite creek. After an easy entry with the high water I found the creek was stacked with reds. I managed probably 8-10 (and saw a lot more than that) before I left them biting. Unfortunately, I couldn't get any of the creek fish to eat a plug, but the prety girls couldn't resist some gold. Overall, a good day and back in time for the gator fry and some quality football at 3:00.

Sunday I unhooked the trolling motor to open some bow space and took Katie the muts for cruise out of the Fort. I like big muts.....
We headed to bird rack to let the dogs play some fetch on the morning low.
After that I wanted to get in a little fishing, so we pointed the bow east and started that direction when I noticed I was being trailed. I slowed down to find part of the Parkway Marine crew was the pursuing party. I led him into area where I thought he could pick up some trout, but unfortunately I was wrong. My bad buddy; next time call me and we'll take one boat (don't text). I only managed one trout and a couple blow-ups but did see some reds and explored an area I hadn't been to in the recent past.
After the pleasure cruise I headed back to Riverside for a cheeseburger and shade with my increasingly hangry crew.
random question-has anyone else noticed that Skitterwalks become less effective after extended use? I'm sure some will tell me my confidence in a lure falls when they loose paint etc, but I believe there is more to it than that. Once a skitterwalk gets an abrasive touch it doesn't walk correctly. I don't find this with other walk the dog plugs, but after a month or so I find my Skitterwalks to be worthless. Anyone else?
