Federal vs State waters..

So if you are going for a species that is closed in Federal water but open in State or vice versa, how is it handled if your stopped by da man. It would seem if you have that species there is no way to prove where you were at. Just seems like a dum azz law to confuse people anyway, or collect extra fines.

I assume you are talking red nsapper season.

I have heard stories of FWC checking GPS tracks during this transition week between state and federal openings and issuing tickets based on that. Also they watch boats on radar from just inside the nine miles and check boats as the come into state waters. Just keep that in mind if you think you might try to sneak one past.

Your GPS track your every move while it is on

That is how I find my way back to the landing if I get lost in the marsh canals

Thats simple.. Cancel Navigation, clear plot trail, re-enter where you want to go. If this is a way they rely on, its not very good.

Yep it is real simple, but you know how to use a computer. Most people who fish have a real problem using a GPS, let alone how to do things like that.

If they have the right equipment... they can plot and track you from their boat.

I was talking about the Snapper season with a guy at the dock this week and he asked me if I'd ever heard of "Fillet and Release". I almost fell off the boat laughing when he said that.
