Got to Ecky about 6 a.m. to a parking lot full of eager fishermen.
No one was at the ramp so we pulled through and launched.
Got signed in,talked to everyone I could and waited for safe light.
The point 4 tide prediction was off by a foot and a half. When we got to the mouth of the river the bar on the left was still covered with water. The wind prediction was for 15-20 NW. It was less than 5 from the ESE. Barely enough for a good drift speed.
Pulled into our first hole at Hickory Mound. Captain Cheesy and ChillnGrill were already on it.
Moved on down, some other boat was on that hole too. No bites there either. Decided to go to the hole Seaspot and I found 3 months ago and try our luck. Nine miles later we settle into our drift. Ten minutes later a nice 19 inch trout in the boat. Then a few blues and a flounder. We are feeling better now.
We left this spot with 4 trout 18-21 in the box and went looking for a red and our 5th trout.
Back tracked to the previous spots and picked up 2 15 inch trout but no reds.
Back at the ramp at 3:15 the water was lapping over the seawall.
Got checked in and set up the food table with Larry Cobbs' chili and make your own sandwich fixins'.
Kathy handed out prize tickets to everyone for a chance at the FALCON ROD,HIGH ROLLER LURES,BITEaBAIT lures,DOA LURES and CAMPING WORLD battery charger.
We had several new members and guest join us for the Econfina tournament. I believe we will see them again in November.
You folks that missed it,missed a beautiful day and a good fish bite.
