In at the fort at 8:00 AM. Fourth boat in. Me and my NYC neighbor. Hit the East River, Rock Garden, south of #24, then right in front of the LH at 2:00PM
Wind: 6-10 out of the E at the fort, river a little choppy. Choppy at the LH. Headed into east river, very windy. By 11 winds were ESE at about 5. South of #24 at 12:00 Winds diminished to nothing until later in the day.
Temp: 63.5 in East River. 64.8 in the rock garden, 66.8-69 2 miles south of #24 in 33'
Water: Very clear to 5' east of the lighthouse. Bottom visible again in 22'-29' around #24.
Birds: No diving birds, no schools of bait to be seen.
The MAN: Young guy, very nice. Officer Cook. 2nd meeting. South of # 24. Kind enough to help me identify my fish. Legal fish.
Fish: Stayed under 3'. Chartruese grub, Shrimp, CT, combo, Top water during overcast. NADA.
South of #24 - 30' Two very large black bass, my first ever, a very pretty fish. Two very large KW grunts. Two unidentifiable bumps then unmovable objects it seemed. Like they were stuck to the bottom, but then would move maybe 4-5 feet. Lost both of whatever they were. Caught everything on some nasty squid. Tried some LY's and stretch 25's, no interest.
Had some porpoises play around close to the front of the boat as we were trolling, within hands reach. Wish I had brought a camera. The water was so clear we could see them 25' down and 25' away. Really amazing. Neighbor thought he might want to get in to swim with them. What an idiot. Told him they like to mate with people. That stopped him cold.
Did talk to one man back at the fort who said he caught 1 14" trout and a bunch of small spanish.
Back at the lighthouse, nothing doing. Sunburned, time to go. Think I will stay out of the sun tomorrow. Three out of four days in a row for this pale Irish boy is probably enough.

for petes sake
Thanks, Pa. I've been chasin younguns for two weeks. When they're here my ofice is their bedroom. So, I can't get to my computer when they're asleep, and don't have time after they wake up.
They've gone back home now. So it's back to work. But I do get my office back. I might even sneak a day of fishin in, from time to time. But for the next few weeks I gotta work when the work is there. After no paying jobs for 4 months while I was remodeling our house, I've gotta make some money to replace all the boss spent.
Thanks for checkin, Pa. I'm back, and doin fine.
