Cracked Transom

Post by jadams92002 »

Well here are a few pictures of my cracked transom. More than likely I am going to junk the boat so I am in the market for a newer boat if some one has a good priced flats boat for sale. Long story short I am not sure what happened, running through ruff water looked back and it was cracked. The only thing I can think is that back in the summer I hit a rock way up on the Flint River and that must have weakened it, and the ruff water finished it off.

Take it to R & R down in Attapulgus and Let Rick look at it. He may be able to fix it. If not, what kind of boat is it? Might make a good off shore reef if we can float her out.

Unless your angling for a new boat - that is not that bad. They remove complete transoms and replace them daily. Check with Mike's Marine Ways in St. Marks as well.

I don't know what year or make of hull you have, but you may have other issues. I rebuilt the transom and floor in a 1978 Skeeter bassboat years ago, because it was the only way I could afford to keep fishing on my budget. Having done it once, I would advise finding another hull. Check Craig's list in your area.

Good Luck - Steve

Where you like to fish I would highly recommend a metal boat.

Rick at R & R said if I wanted to strip the boat down that he could do it for 800 or 900 bucks. That would be a down payment on a new one instead of putting it back into a 1988 model. The hull isn’t worth it. By the way Chalk it dose give me a reason for the new boat, The wife was against it before it broke now she is all for it!! :-D Now if I can just get her to make the payment.

That’s kind of what I was thinking. The way every thing is right now some one will have a deal.

Barhopr, I tried to call about that one twice with no luck. Sounds like a good deal if it is in pretty good shape. Juan, I saw that one on there also. Other than the color it looks like mine. Thanks for the help and keep them coming.
