Hey guys (New Fishing Boat Advice)

Post by mojokoko »

Hey guys, I was wondering if I could get a new "decent" flats boat
for around 6500 max. I was thinking about a Carolina Skiff from
http://www.scmarine.com, but I wasnt sure if I should check some local places
or not. I live in tallahassee currently, and only have a s10 regular cab
4 cyl engine. So I cant haul around some HUGE boat or anything.

I mainly want to fish the flats for red/trout/mackrel etc etc.

Good morning mojokoko,

I assume your looking at the
The Affordable Angler - $6,495 Out the Door!
Unless you've already checked with them....I think I'd have to contact Big Bend Marine in Perry and see what they'd do on the same or similar rig. Any warrenty work etc would sure be easier/more comfortable with the one who sold it and they would certainly be closer. If you have the choice I'd suggest that you seriously consider the 20" transom over the 15". I know your interested in keeping the weight and cost down and that is probably why your looking at the J series but if it's not a deal breaker I sure lean towards the DLX series. More gunnel, more width, more hp rating, better maneuvering, ...but more weight and cost. Either way...good luck
"Good Judgement" comes from experience, ... and a lot of that..... results from "Bad Judgement".
