You need to take into account your cost for driving over there and back 2 times now. The cost to clean it up and get it in the condition you would keep it(detail job). And the cost to put the electronics of your choice on it.

So the asking price is $8500?

minus $250 in gas over and back twice
minus $300 for Tom Wheeler to detail it
minus $1000 for the electronics you want on it.

Tell the guy you'll come get it for $7250 or he can deliver it for $7500, IF YOU REALLY WANT THIS BOAT AND WANT TO RIG IT OUT YOURSELF.

very good points bbb

Plus required safety equipment, VhF radio and antena, anchor, ropes, and a bunch of other stuff that an individual might let go with their sell if they are just trying to unload the boat.

I doubt he would take a penny less than $8500 or even drive meet me half way. He is asking $9995 on Craigs and $9900 on ebay. Now in a couple months if it is still sitting in his driveway $7000 might buy it.

I love all the comments and it really helps me feel better about wanting to pass on this boat.

A similar situation just sold on Ebay: For $7001, except IMO, better because Honda engine , Key West boat

If you are looking local there is a G3 on Crawfordville Hwy that is very nice. Don't know what they want but it is a pretty setup. Around 17 or 18 foot with a console and appeared to be rigged. Just sayin

I have driven to Chicago, Baton Rouge and Islamorada to buy my last three boats - I'm sure my opinion doesn't count :smt005

First it sounds like you knew what you wanted and had to go where it was at.

I am just getting to the point where I think I know what I want and familar with market prices.
To date I have probably spent about 150 hours of research on the web.
Drove about 1500 miles looking at boats and about 6 days of riding time.
And the only boat I own is a tiny fishing boat I bought about 40 years ago. LOL

:o 150 hours x $20 an hour = $3,000 you could have made somewhere as a down payment on your boat.

Go buy the boat if you want it - any boat new or used will tear up and need work sooner or later.

No boat is perfect - every boat has is pros and cons.

Think of a boat as a wife - with an option to sell if you get tired of its crap

Chalk
I sure wish I was worth $20 an hour to surf and research on the web. LOL

My problem, I am to one track mind, and the last few weeks it has been consumed in a boat search

As I have been told be many on here I need to chill and be patient, a deal will come to me.

And it will. With the holidays coming, people have other things on their minds. After the new year you will see a lot of boats go up for sale. January start the new boat show season and some folks get the 2 foot itch. So like so many have said. Chill and take your time to find the perfect ride for you.
