Best fishing bud gave me an 8 weight rod after he moved to an even sturdier one to target cobia and tarpon. Not a great fly fisherman by any stretch, as I've mainly used much lighter weights for panfish in the Carolinas where placement wasn't critical to catch hungry brim eager to eat evertyhing in sight
Reason for the post is the reel he had on it needs replacing. While I'm not aiming to put the cheapest plastic Wally-World replacement I can find on it, not looking to put a top end reel on it either until I can put a lot more practice in. Any recommendations on a reel that won't break the bank? Mainly will be aiming to catch trout, reds, and possibly smaller cobes with it. Could see dropping between $60 to $150 on a good reel, but definitely no more at the moment. Should add that I fish left handed reels. Any and ALL recommendations will be GREATLY appreciated!

WOW! Some darn nice looking reels for surprising prices! Any favored reel out of the bunch?
