Trouttrent at Fenholloway 11-29-09
Trouttrent called and asked if I would fish the final TeamSeatrout tournament with him today.
I told him I would and met him at 5:30 this morning to head out. We hooked up the boat and had no tail lights. I told him if we could make it to Wakulla County that they did not require tail lights. So we took off. Down the road he found out we had brake lights and turn lights. I figure we are good to go.
At Jerrys Bait and Tackle he pulls out the book on his truck to look up the fuse array. He is convinced it is a bad fuse.
Sure enough a fuse is blown. It gets replaced and we have tail lights.
We get just past the Econfina road going to Fenholloway and we see lights bouncing off the road. We pull over. Can't find any duct tape so we use a piece of wire to tie the light to the trailer and head on to Fenholloway.
A quick stop at Rockys for a breakfast sandwich and talk with Junior Dice we head on down to the lower ramp.
The lower ramp is out of the water. We manage to launch behind a Alabama boat. On the way out the river the Alabama boat runs aground. We have no choice but to shut down and idle. We pull off to the right and start fishing. We fish on for about a mile with several blowups on topwater. TT finally hooks up with a nice 19 1/2 inch trout.
We fish on for awhile with no luck. I suggest we go to a spot that Ashley Mock and I used to catch good fish. As soon as we get there I put a over 20 trout in the boat. TT is on the bow running the trolling and starts seeing trout and flounder everywhere.
We hunker down and start fishing hard at trout chasing glass minnows. A couple flounder and redfish later we hook up with more nice trout. By now we have 2 over 20 trout in the box and release 5 over 20.
The bit slows on this hole so we move on down the bay.
The next stop nets us more keepers all over 19 inches with a couple over 20.
By now our time is running out and we need to think about heading back. We fish a few of Trouttrents spots on the way back with no luck.
The weather today was perfect with a slight breeze from East to Southeast barely putting a ripple on the water.
Back at Jerrys Bait and Tackle we weighed Big Trout and First Place Trout at 13 plus pounds.

Do you mean 4 or 5 boats? I"m making sure you weren't the only boat with taking 1st place and big fish.

Jeff and I were fishing near shore between Econfina and Spring Warrior when we look down to see a pigeon on the gunwale. This pigeon had a band on each foot and was very friendly. It hopped down into the boat.Checked out the dip net, tackle boxes, empty soda and water cans.TroutTrent wrote:Yeah my holes SuckThey don't have anything on them so no need going back there. Hopped up on the transom and rode with us to a different spot. At one point it flew away back towards land. We moved to another spot and here it comes again. Lights down on the gunwale again. When we noticed it trying to get in the fish box we figured it must be a FWC spy.
All in all it either rode with us or met us at 3 different fishing holes. We then decided it was CaseyCooks spy in the sky recording JT51 fishing holes.

Nice job guys
Sounds like the pigeon might have brought some luck cause JT's holes don't usually produce anything but catfish

Trouttrent contacted FWC,gave them the number off the pigeons' leg band and found out it was a racing pigeon. FWC told him these pigeons are very friendly and will seek out humans to rest around.
I guess that is why it finally left.
Trouttrent ain't human.
