Spanish, troll vs cast?

Post by Littoral »

I need some learning here so I'd apprreciate some help. The main issue for me is that I really don't care to troll, but I do like to catch fish. So why is it that trolling for Spanish often works better than casting? The obvious answer is that you cover more water but I'm not sure that's true if you're on the move with 2+ people casting. Dolphinatic's 3/27 report is an example of what I'm talking about.

Normally I will troll until I find them and then stop and drift. I would say that trolling is sometimes more effective because the speed at which the bait is moving is often faster than what you work a casted bait at.

All the above, except I'd add, I cast with one lure. I troll with Mackeral trees. Basically two rods with ten lures.
