St. Andrews 12/30/09

Post by Chalk »

Lil Chalk had the long face after I told him about mine and KyTrkyHntr's success yesterday. I told him it was suppose to rain and we probably wouldn't go today...after that you would have thought I had shot santa

Got up this morning and looked at the wind and weather forecast and planned a fail proof plan based on this information. Winds out of the NE and then switching to the SE. Had a bank that ran east/west for the NE and when it switched SE, we would go around the corner. Well, it was more east and rought out the gate...the fail proof plan was scraped and we looked for some shelter out of the wind. Hit a flat that should have some fish on it...did find a few on it, but nothing worthy.

Moved to an old stand by flat and found a few fish that wanted to run from the perfectly presented bait and they were feeding and tailing. Moved to another new area....saw a swirl....threw in the bait that KyTrkyHntr was using yesterday...line went tight...drag taken, boil and tail in the air....hook comes flying out. This happened more times that I care to even discuss...I guess setting the hook with a push pole under your arm had something to do with it.

Ended up with about 7 good fish...fish were feeding like yesterday...you had to get it close and in their face or no love. Lil Chalk got to see several fish tail and the other great things that nature presents on the redfish pulpit. Weather was really nice despite the crazy wind and the few scum clouds. Can't wait to do it again. Fish are on every flat I have been on in the past three weeks...if they would only start eating better. Soft plastics were on the menu today.

Nicely done DAD!! Way to work a plan to get that boy on the water. That's gonna pay a dividend far more than your retirement account  :D

By the way...what kind of "gripper" is that locked on the redfish?
