WTB Good Fishin' Dog

Post by Harmsway »

Wanted:

Good fishin' dog. :smt045

Dog must be able to find and point to fish below the surface, and hold on point without falling overboard during extreme boat maneuvers. :smt023

Retrieving is not required. :smt112

No bird dogs, please. :smt105

Recommendation/information on breeds that fit the specifications is appreciated, even if you do not have one for sale at this time. :smt115
To fish, or not to fish, . . . those are the answers.

Hang around the docks and pick up Stinsons' dog.
He usually forgets it at the ramp.

If you don't want his I suggest a Rat Terrier.
Pogo fished with me for 12 years. During that time she found many fish we did not know where there.
She didn't point, but would perk up,get on the bow are start staring into the water. When she did this the bite was on.

Yes. A Rat terrier will be your fishing companion and travel companion and a easy keeper.
All they ask for is water a Vienna sausage and a boat ride.

Boy, forget your dog at ONE tournament and you never live it down. While it may seem that I am just absent minded, there is strategy to my plan - If you forget the dog once in a while you NEVER get asked to take the kids anyplace..... :o :-D

I second JT on this one. I have a Jack Russel (often confused for a rat terrier) And he LOVES fishing. I have to sneak the boat out of the yard sometimes if I don't take him.

You could use a little help locating fish. I'll rent him to you for the February tourney :-D

Where you been BB? You've been missing for almost 2 weeks.

Ya'll know Boo isn't going anywhere, but If I were Harmsway I wouldn't take birddogs off the list...

What if he jumps in after the fish to help you retrieve them? Does that make him more or less appealing? :-D
