Lighthouse 1/23

Post by SHOWBOAT »

Matt came over aroudn 6:15 this morning with intentions of a fishing trip to the east. We loaded his gear in the boat and had just turned off WW Kelly onto Tram when we saw a road closed sign. We disregarded the sign and went a little futher until water crossed the road and we had to turn around. Having to turn around and head through Woodville we decided it was safter to lauch at the Lighthouse rather than try a ramp further ease.

Started out by heading into two of my favorite creeks...nada.

Decided to try some shoreline....nada.

Tied plan C and started seeing invidual reds. I started the catching by tricking a short fish with a spoon. Matt followed with a fish just shy of 30".

I caught the third and final fish at 26 7/8".

Not many fish and we never saw a trout. Still a fun day and nice to be back on the water with a fish pulling drag.
In the end we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. And we will understand only what we are taught.

To fish, or not to fish, . . . those are the answers.

Rough in morning. We had to slow to 8-9 mph in sloppy seas on the way out in order to keep our seeds in tact. That was our primary reason for heading in creeks early, along with our misconception that the fresh water may not have affected reds as much as trout. Around 11 or 12 the wind settled down and it made for a nice afternoon.
