I wanted it to be easily accessible to view the bowl and allow for easy draining.
I looked at it over the weekend and the only place I could see it fitting was between the screw off port and the back of the boat (I have about 6") near where all the controls come out of the boat going to the engine. This would put the top of the filter only a couple inches from the top of the boat. I wish I had a picture of where I am talking about, I am at work and didn't know I would be thinking about this today. LOL
I was just debating if I should drill holes in the above mentioned spot.
OK I found a boat picture, The spot I a was considering (looking at the picture) is just right of the leaning post and above and to right of were the connections are coming out of the hull. There is a small space you can see near the back of the boat. You can't see the screw out port in the picture it is behind the leaning post pole in this view.
What does the experts think of this location?
