I commend you for looking out for everybodies saftey and understand that I have no say in the matter as I am not on the commitee. Everything you mentioned about tides and winds and build up is somewhat true, but not for the conditions that are currently being predicted. If you are going to cancel for moderate conditions like these then what kind of precident is that setting. How can we feel confident to plan days off in advance for future tournaments if there is no set protocol for canceling (Lightning, Small Craft Advisory). Sure these are the most fun conditions to fish, but that is part of the fun.

I hope the conditions are more favorable for the March tournament but I will not be attending.

The next tourney is the Chili Cook-OFF @ SGI? Should be interesting as the time gets closer.

They just happen to be at the scheduled for the same day. If you want chilli, go to SGI. If you want to fish, have a good time, have a chance at some great raffle prizes, eat and learn a little something come to Jerry's and fish with us.

Keyser you know as well as anyone that with 15-20knot wind there will be a smal craft issued for Sat. we were tring to make a decision so everyone could make different plans in advance.Sure sorry you would rather eat Chili than come fish a Trout tourney I bet if it was Redfish you would fish instead. The club tournaments have always been the 1st Sat. of each month maybe they should move the Chili cookoff to another weekend.

Oh I'll be fishing, no worries there. Hopefully the "boat traffic" from the Chili will stay confined to SGI and not venture elsewhere.

No way I'm missing another tourney!

I think that the call made by the committee was the right call. I also want to commend them all for making a call so that people can make plans for the rest of their weekend. These first few months are usually the toughest months to fish due to the winds and rain, and I know that this does present a challenge to fisherman and most of us are up for the challenge. That being said... The fact that there are quite a few anglers in this club that do have to experience to fish in those tough conditions does not speak for the entire group. Everyone wants to fish, but everyone also wants to have a great/safe time doing so.

The conditions being predicted are almost the exact conditions from last weekend and i did go out there last weekend... it was not the best day to be out on the water. It was fishable, but it would not be a good situation for someone who has not had that much experience in those conditions. I just think this is the right call and want to thank the committee for looking out for everyone’s safety first.

As for the weather, we'll will just have to see if a small craft is issued..... but as of now it hasn't been and with the winds subsiding it probably won't be. At this point I am beating a dead horse. :smt009 I booked a beach house months ago for the cook off so that is out of my hands and has nothing to do with Trout fishing, if you would like a lesson or two on Redfishing in moderate conditions then I would be more than happy to put on a clinic for you especially Warrior.

JT Chili is a must at the weighin, even if I won't be there. :lick:

Eric, go to www.nfgfc.org and read rule number 8 in the tournament rules. Maybe next year you would be willing to take on the tournament director's job and the responsibility of 25 to 65 participants' safety.
