Gennaro's first Cobia

Post by wetjet »

Went to Keaton this weekend with the boys.

Gennaro was fishing for trout in about 5-feet of water when
Whammo - 6lb line was peeling like crazy.

Had to fire up the motor several times to chase that bad boy

after over 25 minutes and more skill than a 13 year old should have - i netted the fish with a small net that felt more like a frying pan

see picture below

Way to go, Genarro!

What a great experience for a young fisherman.
What was I supposed to do today?

Fantastic Gennaro! This will stay with you a very long time. What a thrill this must have been - everybody yelling, knees shaking, heart thumpin'...

Us older guys need these from time to time too and look forward to them. But it doesn't get any better than to see the kids get their feet wet.

Yup, the Wet Jet gang did great! For most of the rest of us, it was much slower. Did manage a mixed bag of trout, spanish and blues but it was slow fishing. Still a great weekend at Keaton. :D

Good deal Gennaro. Got a picture just like that one with my son at 15 years old with his first Cobia. My son's 27 years old now, and I'm still proudly showing that picture.
