Got to the lighthouse at dawn, just in time to watch someone drive the last 1/2 mile or so of the refuge road and launch with a flat, right rear tire. Knew there were going to be some real geniuses on the flats. Fished east of the lighthouse for a while, immediatley picking up shorts on live shrimp and 4" sure ketch plastics. Caught some "keeper eligibles" (16-17"), but put 'em back to fatten up and grow. Went east and south of the third stake where some bait had congregated. Fished for a while, but no takers. Threw out a clark spoon and picked up a mack trolling back towards black rock. Fished around the rock garden on the slack tide, and caught nothing. Saw a bunch of HUGE stingrays, though. Spotted a turtle and some small mantas on the flats heading back towards the lighthouse, and hung around them looking for Mr. Cobe. No luck. Went to East River and picked up a big mack, five reds, and some more short trout to end the day. Back at the ramp and out at 2:00.

You've been doing well on the reds, EMC. Good catch!
