Ice Fishing in Michigan

Post by k8show »

I am home in Michigan for spring break until Monday. My parents and I went ice fishing this morning. Usually, ice fishing is terribly cold, but we had better temps than we did for March's NFGFC tournament! When we got back in the car at noon, the thermometer read 65. This means the end of the season is approaching and the ice won't be safe for many more days.

We caught a pike and two bass on tip-ups rigged with 2-3" minnows.

Mom outfished us all catching 8 bluegill to my 4 and dad's 2. What a great way to spend time with my family.

If anyone's interested in checking out pictures of our lures, tip-ups, bait, augers, spud, sunrise pics or more of the frozen tundra, you can follow the link below. I'm not sure how many of you have been ice fishing, but what a riot!

Don't back up; might break a leg.

Looks like fun.

Holy Crap, I didn't realize people caught fish that big while ice fishing! That's a nice bass anywhere!
