A unique website dedicated to fishing information from Florida's Northern Big Bend. This includes the area from the Econfina River west to the Apalachicola River
My wife got sick and cut my fishing on the last tournament by 1/2 hour. Had battery issues....None of that stuff really mattered, I Zeroed. I got so desperate I cruised out to DIR. Certainly the temps have been more stable out there this past month. The large sand patches in two feet of water were crawling with Bulls. I wasted more time than I should have... no trouts.
I am looking for change.
I am headed out to Keaton Beach to practice fish this Saturday. I have never been there. Can anyone give me a general area to start looking for some trout? Even a right or left would be appreciated.
After the fish, where is a good place to drink a cold one with a few of Bad Behaviors Harem.
Hey Joe, My Crew wont be there this weekend and with the 20+ winds , I would advise you not go either. Can be a rough joker coming back from the north to keaton. Ive heard good reports from Keaton all the way north to Fenholloway. Just follow the channel markers and start bearing in when ever you see somewhere you wanna fish. Theres a bunch of big rocks in close so when you hit the four foot water mark, id idle around until you get more used to the surroundings. Good Luck! You wanna hang with a real Motley Crew come on back to Keaton for the tourney in April! We'd love to have ya!

I'd run north and find some structure starting at Dekle Beach all the way up to yates Creeks. There rocks up there too, so be careful and spend some time on the trolling motor.

I agree, thanks everyone for the info. I've never been to Keaton either but plan on making it down for the April tourney. So keep up the tips for us newbies, certainly don't want to leave a prop in Keaton. More interested in a safe travel route more than anything. So far I'm hear anything under 4 ft go slow...
Hey Joe,
I would probably have to strongly recommend that this weekend be spent cleaning the yard or something! Hahaha! It will be extremely windy and probably rough! I have fished Keaton for probably 8 years or better and i love it!!! The best place to go is to come out of the channel between the markers, that will take you around to the right. After passing the last marker you should be able to look just about straight out and see a dot on the horizon, that is one of the bird racks. Drive to it and just drift in that area. It's usually about 3.5 to 6 ft. deep but with this crazy weather there is no telling. The last time I was down was around the first of February and havent been back since. But good luck and hope you have a safe and prosperous weekend!!!
