Ickee-Feenee 3-19 & 20

Post by jcflats »

I was fortunate enough to get down to the coast and spend a couple of days this past weekend.

On Friday we were able to get on the water by 9:00 a.m. with the anticipation of warmer temps. Well as you may know the wind was howling and we kept our jackets on all day. We saw surface water temps move from 57 in the morning to 64 in the afternoon. We caught a few short trout in the morning in 3.5' using suspending hard baits and put 6 keepers in the box in the afternoon after moving in close to the creeks using hard baits.

Saturday was an awesome experience. We got on the water at day light and was able to see the sunrise over a beautiful pristine gulf. That was worth the whole trip. The morning fishing was extremely slow and we put one 17 inch trout in the boat by noon. Around 1:30 the tide made its turn and we moved in close and immediately started to catch fish. By 4:30 we were able to finish our two man limit of fish with two over twenty inches.

The water temps were pushing 70 in the shallow water on Saturday and and the winds were 10 mph or less. It was a very nice day to be on the water! The water was trying to clear up some where we were fishing until the tide moved the coffee stained water back on us around 2:30 p.m. If the temps continue to warm we should began to see some really awesome fishing in the next couple of weeks. :D
