Requesting Help on Lake Jackson "Bream"

Post by Rainman »

Anyone willing to give me some advice on catching a few bream on Lake Jackson to eat? I haven't done much freshwater fishing so any info would be greatly appreciated. Are they like pin fish on the flats, just throw some bait on a small hook just about anywhere...?
Thanks

Yes and no... you have to be in the right place.
Look for round circles- bream beds or fish the edge of the pads.
Crickets are my favorite bait.

One fun way to find them is to troll a beetle spin on an ultra light rod.
Smaller bait the better- try Black with yellow stripes or White with black stripes.
Use your electric motor and go just slow enough to keep the lure out of the grass.

And all this time I thought somebody was busting up watermelons.
To fish, or not to fish, . . . those are the answers.

A little off topic perhaps....

Has anyone tried launching from Miller's Landing since the lake has come back up? It's closer to the house than driving over to the other side.

Launch where you want to launch..........or launch where the pros launch.
and where you can buy bait cheaper than Walmart.

Yo B-
You should be fine. Still not a steep ramp.

If not Millers then where? I am thinking about going tomorrow. It's either there or Lake Seminole. If anyone wants to go to either place let me know.

Launch at Rhoden Cove. If you're heading South on Meridian it is the next landing past Millers. I have a 20ft flats boat and can launch with no problem.
