Lake Talquin

Post by SS-342 »

We are new to this forum and need advice on fishing Lake Talquin for crappie. The moon is right but are the fish? We usually launch our boat at Williams Landing and have seen crappie caught near the Eagle's Nest. We caught some in the deep channel out from the landing in February. Also went up in Little River once and saw a few caught but didn't catch anything ourselves.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks!

went last night caught 30 or so (biggg ones). second time ever fishing talquin, this was first time in 20 years. fished fairly close to the edge next to sparce lili pades caught most of them were you could smell them. fished one of the creeks on the west side of the lake. fished 2-3 ft deep in about 5' of water, cane pole and minnows. fished from 8:00 to 1:00 in the morning.

the guys i was with were disaponted that we didnt catch 100 or so.

i thought 30 was plenty good.

We've never fish at night. This could be the missing element? You are rigged with lights? If you smelled them, then they are bedding. That is good news! With all the fresh water and funny weather it wouldn't suprise me if they didn't bed.

Thanks for the information!
