Sheepshead 3-24-10

Post by red_yakker »

I was able to talk my buddy Ben into taking me fishing for sheepshead on his crab boat yesterday afternoon (I didn't exactly have to twist his arm :-) ).

We started on the Steinhatchee reef with no luck. We then moved to one of his private "honey holes", some natural hard bottom in about 25 feet. The bottom machine showed fish all the way to the surface, so we dropped a couple of lines. Started slow, but it kinda turned on once we got the water chummed up. We ended up with 13 sheepshead, some pink-mouths and a few keeper blackfish. :lick: We were fishing with fiddlers and shrimp on light tackle. These were my first sheepshead ever. I am impressed, that was alot of fun! :D

Of course I forgot my camera, but I got a couple of pictures with my phone.
