Keaton 3/27

Post by hokiega »

Fished Keaton today 0800-1530. We caught 6 keepers in the first hour and a half, all on one drift. The rest of the day was a dud with 2 keepers. Did lose two or three keepers due to operator error but almost doesn't put limits in the boat. Caught the six just a hair south of Spring Warrior in nasty water and it was blowin'. They weren't as responsive to plugs, we caught them on Catch 2000s (ugh) and Gulps (even more ugh). The last two were around Dekle in slightly prettier water. One on a Gulp and one on a gold Redfin. I do think a decent shallow bite was beginning but we had to leave. Just as we got up to where I almost couldn't get back out I missed a BIG one on the Redfin.
It was almost like the bite quit when the wind died, then it switched around. Once again zeroed on the redfish-anyone know where I need to be to catch them in that area? Two trips in a row and I haven't seen one. Reports at the marina were not good, at least from who I talked to and what I heard in the store.

You got to go and you caught more fish than JT.
