Now JT will probably claim this spot as one of his holes. I do not doubt that he has been there at least once in the 100+ years that he has been fishing Apalachee Bay. I have been there many times in the past 9 or so months and have never seen ANYBODY there before. So I do not think it really qualifies as one of his holes.
Once I got to the spot I really wanted my buddy to hook up as this was his first trip of the year. Unfortunately he did not get a strike. However I did get a hit on a spoon and quickly lost the fish. I was disappointed but not discouraged. A few casts later it felt like I had hooked a cement block. I have never, and I mean never had a fish strike as solidly as this one did. He started coming right at me and I had to reel quickly to keep up with him. As soon as he spotted the boat he changed his direction of travel and this is when my buddy caught sight of him.
"Woo Hoo" He said. "It might be outside the slot!"
Well I fought him to the boat and measured him at 26.95t inches. Man was it close, but Mr Redfish came home with me.

Shortly after that we ran out of water and headed out to the flats for some Trout action. There was plenty of action, but all were short. We caught 20-25 without a single one reaching 15":
Got home and the boat washed by 2:15, ready to do it again tomorrow.
If it had gotten better I might have decided not to go tomorrow. As it is, Mom deserves an Easter fishing trip and I plan on giving her a memorable one.
