Port St Joe 4/02 and 4/03

Post by Scott7138 »

My buddy and I headed to Port St Joe for our annual Easter fishing pilgrimage. We arrived at Presnell's about 10 cst and set the camper up, unloaded, and launched the boat. Idled out, dropped the throttle, and within seconds, she shut down. :smt011 Trolled back to the marina to do some trouble-shooting. Diagnosis: ethanol poisoning. Decided to get another tank and went to the local marina whose initials are I.P.M. and bought a 6-gallon plastic can for..... $67.00. Yes, you read that correctly. WTH!! :smt013 Problem fixed and we were fishing at 2:30. Boated 4 keepers within the first hour and a half and several shorts. All total, 7 keepers, and we were back in at 6. Everyone of them were caught over potholes. Proceeded to fire up the grill with mahi-mahi and swordfish on the menu. Emeril Lagasi would have been proud! Saturday started promising, but halfway to Black's, she shut down again. Got it started and got to the southeast side and started a drift. Fish after fish, 2 keepers and several shorts within 30 minutes. Not feeling comfortable with the motor situation, we finished the drift and my fears came true. I spent the next hour sitting on a cooler trying to get her to run. :bang_1 We ended up trolling to Black's where we were towed in about 1:30. Loaded her up and enjoyed the rest of the weekend on land. Ate supper at Indian Pass Raw Bar Saturday night and the oysters were superb! Anyone want to buy a boat? One other item of note, The 3rd Annual Flats Slam will be held out of Presnells on May 21 and 22. Contact Fred or Paula for more information. Guaranteed good time and food, not to mention the people.Image
