Re: Atlanta to Carrabelle Driving directions???
There are many different routes to take, all of them good. If you want to miss Tally you can cut through the country but pulling a boat this is the route I use.
I-75 South to Tifton exit 61. Turn left, go to stop sign and turn left again. This will put you on Hwy 319. Take Hwy 319 all the way to Tally. Be sure to use the bypass in Thomasville. I Tally take Capital Circle (sitll on 319) all the way to Crawfordville. And then on to Medart. Turn right at onto Hwy 98 and follow to Carrabelle. Some folks go through Sopchoppy or Pancea. Your choice. I go through Shopchoppy.
If I am driving without a trailer I go through the woods (Hwy 59).

Re: Atlanta to Carrabelle Driving directions???
That's a good route, Tidedancer.
Slayer, another good route is pick up 300 in Cordele to Albany, then work your way to Cairo via Camilla. Or get to Cairo by picking up 111 at Moultrie (instead of going through Thomasville).
That way you can stop at Southern Georgia Outdoors and pick up some "Slayer" jig heads and other goodies you're gonna need.
Cairo to Havana (Florida) on 111. Then south on 27 to 263 (turn right at the first traffic light as you approach Tallahassee); aka Capital Circle NW. Right on 319 to 98 to Carrabelle (home of the World's Smallest Police Station

To fish, or not to fish, . . . those are the answers.
Re: Atlanta to Carrabelle Driving directions???
yea I heard stories about that police station...my dad is 75 now..he moved to carrabelle as a young boy for a short time from Glouster Ohio. His 2 aunts(my great aunts) owned and operated one or maybe the only motel/hotel/boarding houses in carrabelle. He would tell me about a police car parked by a phone booth.....
Thanks for the directions!!!! heading down the first week of June if its still open for fishing

Re: Atlanta to Carrabelle Driving directions???
TD and HW both give good directions. But, I live in Carwfordville and when I travel north south, I avoid Tallahassee like the plague. Some days it's not bad, but other days it's a mess.
My north south route is to take 300 into Monticello to Inter State I-10 and east to Rt 59. Just a short drive. 59 south to US 98 and 98 to Carabelle. At Medart you have the option of going through Sopchoppy or Panacea. Sopchoppy is inland and Panacea goes along the coast. I don't see mush difference otherwise.
Rt 59 is a secondary road, but it's in pretty good condition. Awful loney at night though.
Any of the above routes will get you to Carrabelle.
I to am aware of the little police office. Many moons ago my grandfather was Chief of Police in Carabelle.

I don't think you can get there from Atl.
I use 59 it's loneyly but that's what makes it nice. I avoid Tally at all costs.

I too use 59 about 95% of the time. I do not want to go through Tally if I can help it.
Re: Atlanta to Carrabelle Driving directions???
I-85 S
I-185 S to Columbus
Hwy 27 S all rural 4 lane except about 20 miles Two redlights
In Bainbridge, we head south to 65 then 67 coming into Carrabelle through the NF
I have heard this referred to as the old bootleggers route.
Two lane roads with no traffic and not a single red light.
First trip we followed 27 on into Tally and it took about an hour longer.

Take a kid hunting or fishing and you will be rewarded.
