NFGFC May Tournament Results - 5/8/10

On Saturday, May 8th, the North Florida Gulf Fishing Club held their third tournament of the year. 37 boats showed up to Jerry's Bait and Tackle with hopes and dreams of catching the winning stringer. It was a tough, windy day of fishing, but several nice fish were brought to the scales. 108 fish were weighed by tournament participants weighing a total of 204.38 lbs.

When the dust settled at the end of the day, the team of Michael Aman (mpa7201) and Chad Frost had a great a 5 fish stinger in windy conditions. Their five fish ticked the scales to 11.68 lbs and was anchored by a nice 26", 4.58 lb beast. Team Aman / Frost took home $380 for the win. Congrats to Mike and Chad.

2nd place was awarded to the team of Casey Cook, Pat Irwin, and Skip Cook. Team Blind Hog weighed in five trout tipping the scales to 11.63 lbs which won them $230.

3rd place went to the team of Tom (Dolphinatic) Wheeler, Raymond Sims, and Chris Jones. This angling team weighed in five trout at 11.48 lbs which won them $150. Tom Wheeler also caught the big redfish for the day, a 6.40 lb red, that won his team an additional $470. Congrats to Tom and the gang.

The big trout pot was won by Brian "Showboat" Showman who caught a monstrous 28", 5.55 lb sow. Brian's trout won him $370. Congrats to Team Showman.

The Custom Detailing 2nd place Big Trout was won by Ashley "Warrior" Mock who weighed a 4.75 lb biggun which won him $25.

The Kevin's big flounder pot was won by Shane Johnson as his 1.92 lb doormat won him a $50 gift certificate to Kevin’s Sporting Goods. Shane is now the leader in the clubhouse for the Kevin’s Sporting Goods Big Flounder of the Year award.

The Badcock and More Mystery fish rolled to next month as nobody weighed a legal cobia. Next month's mystery fish will be worth $200.

I would be remiss if I didn't say thanks to a few guys who really made this tournament a success. Thank you to Pat Irwin, Ashley "Warrior" Mock, Matt "Downtime" Howell, and William "Tally Fish" Fisher for their help with both registration and the weigh-in. Big thanks also go to Larry Cobb and the folks at Jerry's Bait and Tackle for providing a low country boil for everyone at the weigh-in...it hit the spot for sure. Also, please be sure and thank all of our sponsors for all that they do...we raffled off several nice prizes at the weigh-in and are lucky enough to give away several hundred dollars of side pot money each year because of these folks.

The NFGFC May tournament was an awesome event. We tied the club record turnout and had well over 100 people at the weigh-in. I hope to see all of you at our next tournament, June 12th in Port Saint Joe at the PSJ Marina where a good time will be had by all for sure.

Sorry to ditch the weigh in. My partner was . Spent the day trying to get her to feeling better and wound up going home early. Did grab a couple of grouper fillets for the grill from Millenders and go home for a nice dinner. Oh well, we'll get em next time. RTSO participants better watch out, Im good and rested!!!
