Saltwater Motor vs. Freshwater Motor

How does the saltwater series motor differ from the freshwater series? What makes it different?

IT IS MADE OUT OF DIFFERENT METAL, MOST FRESHWATER ENGINES ARE MADE OF ALUM. WHEREAS SALTWATER ENGINES ARE MADE OF A COMPOSIT OF METALS THAT ARE RESISTANT TO CORROSION YA GET FROM BEING USED IN SALT WATER. I HAVE NOT OWNED A ( SALTWATER ENGINE) I ALWAYS BACK MY OUTFIT INTO A FRESH WATER LAKE, POND,OR RIVER WHEN I GO IN SALT WATER, RUN THE GAS THROUGH THE CARB WITH THE FUEL LINE DISCONNECTED, AND HAVE THE TRAILER COMPLETELY SUBMERGED, THE TRAILER I CURRENTLY USING IS A 1978 PAINTED GATOR TRAILER AND IT IS STILL IN EXCELENT SHAPE AS WELL AS MY 1985 85 H.P. EVINRUDE ENGINE.

Good suggestion on putting it in freshwater to rinse the trailer and motor. Thanks for the info PA.

I was wrong once before. Could "possibly" be wrong this time.
I have been told by 2 different marine dealers that the saltwater series motors have different anodes attached to control electrolosis.
All other components of the motors are the same.
