Diamondback Rattlesnake in St. Marks River

Approx. 4pm sat. Crossing between the fort and Shields Marina. My guess...approx 4ft long, and very healthy. :o :o

Where's my shotgun when I need it.... reckon a flare gun would work? :o The take a kid fishing had young folks pok'n around in the grasses along the edge of the river all around the pavilion... sure glad one of them didn't run across that boy!

I've seen that before, but it was above Shields before the power plant.

They float like a balloon on water....get on plane and run them over or swift strike on back with a rod will break their back and you can do them in.
Actually they can hardly strike with any distance on the water. Actually, he looks toooooooooooooo healthy!
It's a shame there wasn't a gator around...they take care of them at Anky!

I was a mile out in the Gulf off the Aucilla river back many years ago, when one about that size tried to get in the boat with me. It took a whole lotta wacks with the paddle and a near accidental bowel movement to kill that one. :o

Aucilla diamonbacks are a different breed! :o They live long enough in those swamps to get that big they are super reptilian!!!!!!!! :-D
