Some of you may know I’ve been bitten by the ethanol bug and that it appears that the Hydra-Sport has sat for some time before I purchased it. This has not been good for me and after bringing the boat in for 100 hour service Wefing’s Marine found a broken fuel vapor separator on the starboard engine. Funny, I thought I told them it was the port motor running poorly, but ok fix it. So it gets fixed and B.O.A.T. later I have the boat back in time for spring break and fortunate enough to get out and fish two of those days (one even with Duke aboard). Well she still wasn’t running properly and in the middle of the 5 day vacation I spent about half a day with two tech’s from Wefing’s out in front of Apalachicola. Ran it again the following day trying to fish with the family, but Wednesday on the way home I dropped it off at Wefing’s. This is April 7th BTW!
Fast forward to last week I get a report that the port motor has been fixed problems solved, that it’s running at factory specks and everything is done…oh except that the tech recommends that it may be necessary to do the same to the starboard motor, IE: Pull injectors & send out for complete rebuild/cleaning,
I’m notified of this as I get bill and told it’s done! Well it s NOT done if the starboard motor needs it too! I tell them, so after some fed-Xing and pleading with the rebuilder we get them back and reinstalled Friday the 14th (of MAY) Let me say & explain I was in no way in a hurry originally and Wefing is not to blame for my injectors being at 40% and they did solve the problem so kudos for them, I just wish when I say fix it, that it gets fixed 100% the first time not have to get into it 3-4 separate times!
That said the guys did do a great job and I ran the boat offshore with the family and my buddy Larry after having a miserable day fishing in the Red-Trout shootout. Offshore we managed 26-29 MPH on the way out in some slop and 29-30 on the way in at 4500 RMPs. Rounded the can in East Pass and pointed it toward the Carrabelle River and opened her up! WOT trimmed out, tabbed a little and hauling 6 people, tackle, ice, 1/4 tank of fuel, miscellaneous grunts, sea basses, a flounder and a 30 in Gag grouper in the box we managed 6100 RPM’s and 41.6 mph in a bay chop!! So I’M HAPPY and boy that was needed after a Looong day Saturday looking for trout and reds, not to mentions pre-fishing Friday too!

Thanks to my wife and buddy Larry for their help and patience and of course to God and Todd who make this all possible and for Wefing’s for finally getting it right

Congrats to Casey Cook and his partner for winning the tourney!
Ranaman AKA Crabby Joe out.
