Need help

Post by captkeyser »

THe center console on my 201 BackCountry has come loose. The screws have been working their way out for the past couple of weeks and finally completely came out on the way to the weighin Saturday. Can I just replace with larger screws? Any do's or don'ts that I need to be aware of? Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Put a bead of 5200 everywhere the console makes contact with the deck, put 5200 on every screw that you put in the deck, pray you never want to remove the console "cause it will take a crowbar ta get it unattached" :-D

Think mine was 5200'd and had screws....I wouldn't go much larger...but put some 5200 on the screws too.

If you have batteries wiring etc under the console,I would suggest putting a stainless piano hinge on the front base of the console, then add 2 lockdown cleats to the right and left rear sides to secure it to the floor.
You can then undo the lockdowns and pivot the console forward for repairs and maintenance.
At present we remove the screws from the SeaArk console and pivot it forward.
One day we are adding a hinge and lockdowns. (Maybe.) The screws hold just fine.

Great suggestion JT. I just put a new console on my skiff and that will make a great project someday.
