Got Mutual Funds in your portfolio?

Are you the stockholder?

Will you get the benifit?

Have you done anything to help?

Come up with one idea?

Supported anyone that did?

Cut back on oil consumption even in a small way?

Sent a dime to a family that was put out of work?

Probably the same thing I am thinking. Boggob is so down on BP, but I bet he has a car that uses gas and a boat that does. Kinda reminds me of those evangelists like Jimmy Swaggart who preached against sinning while he was sinning away himself.....

Like I said, when you send me a picture of you riding your donkey to town (In JT51's case, a goat) then I will listen to your whining.
Of course, we all know what Obama wants us to do...LOL

I see where those against BP and capitalism are coming from... I mean, if only we let the government take over so the greedy bastages would quit pilfering. Be a perfect world with only rainbows and sunshine... like the world enjoyed by the 4,500 soviets estimated to have died from cancer caused by the Russian's Chernobyl disaster.

Moving away from capitalism will bring peace to the world too... oops... forget about how the Ruskies sacrificed tons of their boys in Afghanistan too (by the way under our own socialist leader we lost our 1,000 in that land today -- a patriotic brother jarhead :smt010 ).

Odd that with a few exceptions the older guys are arguing against socialism while the younger guys hate our capitalistic model. Odd because the one's who will carry the burden for the bulk of their lives will be the young folks. Who knows, maybe JT and I will grow to like watching others slave away with little hope for personal gain after we start getting our handouts.

If I "mess up" at my job then I am written up. When Toyota started having issues with vehicles not stopping their sales dropped, and they were put under a microscope and scrutinized, and rightfully so. BP is no different, they failed to do the job that they were supposed to do and thus they have to face the backlash. I understand that things happen, and that the workers are only human. I just hope that we learn from our mistakes and I feel horrible for all of those who have been and will be affected. BP needs to feel the heat, and needs to be under the magnifying glass to ensure that EVERY measure is taken to make sure that this never happens again.

Captkeyser, would totally agree if not for the fact that the deep-sea aspect of the challenging issue is not the fault of BP, but those against nearshore drilling... and it's not that I'm for it, but like everything in life there are trade offs and we're seeing that now. Hope they are absolutely punished for any knowingful wrongdoing but at the end of the day, you are absolutely right... try as we may try, things happen. Even when run by the government... Apollo engines catch fire, Space Shuttles blow up, nuclear reactors melt, oil wells leak. Just got to do the best we can but I've not seen a word to date that's made me believe that someone better than BP is ready to solve this problem, and Obama himself recently preached we're not ready to live without oil.

I don't see how this is anyones fault except Bp, Transocean, the Gubment, Halburtan and all of us who consume oil (as hard as it is to say). When the companies could not drill closer they took on the challenge of "Drilling Deep" so therefore they took on the responsibility. As mentioned before humans make mistakes, so there should have been better emergency planning prior to the disaster (it’s not like there has never been an oil spill) this should have not been the surprise that is was. Most of the safety devices failed even though they had triple redundancies? I would buy it if one or two safeties failed but all of them?

I don’t think any other oil company is any better than BP I am not boycotting them. To me the Gov. agencies that were supposed to be regulating this industry really let us down they are just as wrong as anyone else. They should be scrutinized just as hard as all other parties involved.

Just my .02 cents

This is a no win situation everyone.

I sure hope this cap works!!

I am one of those younger "lib's" mentioned earlier. It's easy to blame this all on BP. They were out there drilling for oil without a sufficient backup plan. But then, BP got several permits from Federal agencies that allowed BP to drill even though there was not a good backup plan. But can you really blame the government? Government officials are stuck between a rock and a hard place. On one hand, something needs to be done to satisfy our country's thirst for oil, but you can't drill close to shore because it's an eyesore and it would affect tourism, and industry the gulf coast relies on heavily. I guess you could blame people in general for creating such a demand for oil in the first place, but that doesn't seem fair either. I'm a person, and when given the choice between a $40,000 car that gets 35 mpg and a $20,000 truck tht gets 19 mpg I'll choose the truck any day. It's simple economics. I do not have an affordable alternative (plus I need my truck to pull my boat). Who can we blame for that? Science?

It's frustrating. There's thousands of gallons of crude oil leaking into our beloved Gulf, and there's nothing we can do about it (By "we", I mean you and I and the average Joe). We're all angry, but it doesn't do any good to play the blame game.

They got the cap on this morning. Why don't we focus on that?

My sentiments exactly, Red Yakker... chicken little sky-is-falling talk of others isn't doing a constructive thing.

Had the pleasure of meeting Capt. Dave Lear yesterday and can't imagine being in his shoes. When the oil gets here, and won't surprise me if it does, all we can do is tackle it the best we can. In the meantime, we ought to be encouraging others to enjoy it all they can/while they can and do what we can to help those whose livelihoods depend on it. Treating it as the apocalypse when our immediate neck of the woods (for those in the Tally area) hasn't yet been hit is actually doing more harm than good, creating unnecessary victims via our local guides & the state's touristry industry.
