Took Tom and one other out for opening day. No pins on the flats behind DI. The sabiki found one 2# blue runner at the buoys. Headed WSW with a box of frozen bait. Stopped at an 80 foot hole where the snapper had been thick 2 weeks ago. As has been the case for me for the last 7 years of opening day, no takers. Even the AJ's at the Exxon had lock jaw. Spent the day making a big circle back to port. The bite finally picked up a little at 4pm, most coming off a small public number in 60 feet. Final tally: 4 red grouper to 25", 3 gags to 24" 2 red snapper, one trigger, and a couple of mangroves, one being good sized. SE wind 10kts+, seas 2-3, water temp 68.5, good clarity. Nothing bent, nothing broken.
