Dog Island Shoal 6-8-10

Post by Apalach »

Gorgeous day today. First time out in many months with Captain Doc. Mainly drift fishing using live pinfish and some arties. Stopped about half way out of Lanark to stock up on live pinfish, and then began the search for Spanish, shark, and whatever else might be so inclined. Most fun was with 4 blacktip sharks, and the largest sharpnose we have seen in recent years. Possibly because of the shark abundance, not many Spanish around, only 3 small guys, some blues, some ladies, some trout. Catch of the day was a 54 inch blacktip (below) that put up a great fight, and was released to fight another day.

BTW, here's a good reason NOT to wear shorts should you happen to tie into a frisky blacktip...

Yea Bull--dang glad--except I wasn't holding it at all--it was holding me! Took about 5 min to pry that sucker loose so we could release it.
