Econfina
I fished out of econfina over the weekend, about 2-3 miles out, between econfina and the aucilla. Fished in 5-6 ft water, around holes that dropped off to 9-10ft. Caught a few trout, 2 keepers, the rest all undersized. The weather was smokin hot. Is this the right depth and area for trout? I was using gulps under popping corks. The grass was to thick for any type of surface lures. We ventured up north, a little closer to the aucilla, but never fished up close to the mouth or near the shore. What is the action typically like around the mouth and near the shore?

Re: Econfina
That would be my choice for depth although I fish the other side of rock Island I don't use the cork that much now more drag a grub.
Yesterday it was taboo today it is normal what the heck will they be doing tomorrow?
Re: Econfina
I caught some trout on topwater in creek mouths between Anky and Aucilla very early a couple of mornings last weekend. I was fortunate enough to find some water between the heavy floating grass and marsh line where I could toss a topwater. The trout caught were nice (up to 24") and the reds just followed and bumped the lure but didn't seem to be feeding. Most of my neighbors fished 11-13 feet S-SE and caught trout, sea bass, sharks, etc.
I ventured out to 12' once for about an hour and caught 3 keeper trout and some undersize sea bass, five sharks and one leaping blue.
It was mid morning and very hot and still and the trip in took quite a while with all the grass floating.
