ST. MARKS 4-23-04

Post by dolphinatic »

Decided after a long day at work to head down to St. Marks for a little late afternoon, early evening fishing. It was my son's 10th birthday and he wanted to go fishing on his birthday.....so we went. We left the fort at 5:30 and headed out past the lighthouse towards the Black Rock area. We picked up a few shorts using various SWA.....pinfish SWA worked the best next to the candy corn. We drifted in to 2-3 ft. of water and I started throwing a orange/green Love Lure. The trout starting slamming it! I caught 2 keepers with it and a bunch of shorts. I eventually switched to a blue/silver chugbug and fished it until dark. The trout hit it consistently, but missed the plug quite a few times....even knocking it a foot or so out of the water! It was a great way to end the day and start the weekend....the sunset said it all.

TOTAL: 6 TROUT (16"-21") AND 25-30 SHORTS

I know you had a great time fishing with your son, enjoy it while you can, all of our children can not take time to go fishing anymore, too busy making the big bucks.
Good that you had time with your boy.
