saturday weather and fishing????

Post by tallykenj »

What's happening on Saturday? I'm seeing conflicting weather forecasts. I want to do some fishing in the flats around the lighthouse. What's everyone else doing tomorrow and over the weekend?

I just got done breaking out the scalloping gear and we are heading to St Joe!
But the weather does look sketchy... may be worse in the AM than the afternoon.

Looks like it is going to be blowing with vigor in the morning. I am not letting that stop me from going, at least to the ramp. If it looks too rough I might turn around and go home. That does not happen often though. I am usually able to find some water that I can fish. With a 6am high tide I should be able to stick close to the grass line and get where I want to.
Hoping for a topwater morning!

That's the spirit guys. I think I'm going to give it a try and stay as close to shore as possible.

Went Saturday. Fishing was great. Catching was lousy.
To fish, or not to fish, . . . those are the answers.

I was out yesterday and today. A few fish kept me happy. It was a bummer to see the booms stretched out from the lighthouse. This morning, I smelled the oil and observed some foam near shore on the west side of the channel.

You smelled motor exhaust. There is no oil within 100 miles of St. Marks.

Must have been that and my imagination. It does make sense as I was heading west while the wind would have been blowing the exhaust toward the boat. I'm wondering about the boom placement. Is it being staged or will it soon begin to block the river and creeks.

I thought I was smelling oil in Valdosta then I found out they are paving a big stretch of Hwy 75 near here.
Yesterday it was taboo today it is normal what the heck will they be doing tomorrow?

Tom is being kind.
The oil slick perimeter is barely past Pensacola at this time.
The foam is from wind and wave action.
The smell is from something else.
