NFGFC Tourney 7/10 Enter the skunk

Post by captkeyser »

My finace Nina and I launced at Oyster Bay after registering at Jerrys. We had been in a state of high anticipation all week long for that early morning topwater bite. I hadn't been doing much inshore fishing lately due to the low seas and had been focusing most of my time taking the boat out for Snapper and Kings so I figured that we would stick with areas that have produced during past Summers. Turns out I need to do some more figuring. :(

By 8:00am we hadn't had a strike on topwater.....nothing! This wasn't looking too good and it was already begining to heat up. Temp wize that is. We made a move to a bar that has some deeper water around it and I hooked up on a good Red. After a couple minute fight we released the 28"er. :smt012

We made a move East to try mainly for reds as I felt we missed our opportunity for trout given the heat. Got East and the tide had already pumped in a bit more than I had predicted and grass was all over the surface. Caught some pins and floated them for about an hour with nothing, nothing, nothing.

By this time it was about 10:30am and we decided that we would call it a day. Not one to put my tail between my legs but it was placed firmly on Saturday.

Glad to hear that fish were caught and some nice ones at that.

Only way to be certain the skunk doesn't get in your boat is to sell it.
It happens to the best of us and an oversized red don't get you counted in the skunk catagory anyway.
Yesterday it was taboo today it is normal what the heck will they be doing tomorrow?

I saw you zooming in and zooming out several times.
If you would sit still and fish awhile you might actually catch something.
You seem to have the Ashley/Junior haul ass fever.
WHOSE FISH IS IT?

Speed is almost always fun, but ESPECIALLY so when it's 100 degrees out...
